Welcome to the long weekend.
This is the group chat with a nicer front door: four friends, one toddler, too many voice notes and a shared inability to leave a party at a reasonable hour.
What you will find here: nights out, Sunday mornings, Juniper updates, half-finished arguments about films, photos we forgot we took, and the occasional memory that deserves more than a disappearing story.
House rules: no performing, no fixing, and do not ask Rae to “just do one bit.”

For the group chat, use any of the above and someone will eventually answer. Probably.
A memory from the old apartment.
Before Juniper, before the house with the good light, we had a tiny kitchen and one chair that was always in the way.
Rae used to sit on the counter. Benji would develop film in the bathroom. Noah made dinner for whoever showed up. I took pictures of all of it because I thought we would remember.
We did. But it is nice to have the receipts.
Things we argued about this week.
1. Whether the cat is allowed on the table. (She is not. She was.)
2. Whether the song at 1am was “a classic” or “a war crime.”
3. Who left the stroller in the hallway. Nobody knows. Everyone is a suspect.
4. Whether it is acceptable to eat cereal for dinner. Maya says no. Maya had cereal for dinner.
What is the dumbest thing your group chat has argued about? We need material.
Camera roll: the last good weekend.
A roll of film, a table, and the evidence of a weekend that made no sense until it was over.
Frame 1: Maya laughing with her eyes closed.
Frame 2: Noah holding a pancake like a trophy.
Frame 3: Rae mid-story, hands everywhere.
Frame 4: a lamp that was, objectively, not interesting.
I keep the bad ones too. That is where the weekend actually lives.
Juniper’s first word was “no.” Honestly, same.
She has started negotiating bedtime like a tiny lawyer with a very strong case. Maya says it is a phase. I say it is a personality.
Current interests: keys, stairs, refusing naps, putting one shoe in the laundry basket and walking away like she has completed a task.
We are outnumbered and in love.
Saturday, 11:42pm.
We went for “one drink.” We came home with a coat-check ticket, a new best friend and a story about a man who claimed he invented the espresso martini.
Noah fell asleep in the kitchen. Maya is editing photos of strangers. Benji has thirty-seven pictures of a lamp. I have been asked to stop doing the voice.
A successful evening.
