Image & Media Size Guide
Make it fit
The right size is the one that still looks intentional on a phone. Use these starting points, keep the subject centred, and leave breathing room around faces and text.
1200 × 600
Wide feature card. Keep the visual centre-right; the title sits at the bottom.
512 × 512
Simple square mark. Transparent PNG works well.
512 × 512
Circular crop. Keep the face inside the centre 80%.
1600 × 400
Very wide. Avoid text near the edges; mobile crops tighter.
1080 × 1350
Portrait image for highlights. The first visual becomes the cover.
1080 × 1920
Vertical video for the story-style viewer.
1200 × 800
Landscape card image. Keep the subject away from the corners.
1600 px long edge
Portrait 4:5 or landscape 16:9 both work.
1920 × 1080
1080p is the practical default. Avoid 4K unless needed.
Deck cards
Cards are the wide feature pictures at the top of a deck. Use 1200 × 600 px or larger with the important part of the image in the middle. The bottom carries the card title, so avoid placing faces or important text near the bottom edge.
A simple illustration or photograph with strong contrast works best. The site may crop the image differently on desktop and mobile.
Avatar and profile banner
The avatar is cropped to a circle. Upload a square image, at least 512 × 512 px, with the face or mark centred. The banner is very wide: use 1600 × 400 px, keep the subject away from the corners, and avoid embedding small text.
Collections and highlights
Use portrait images at 1080 × 1350 px and vertical videos at 1080 × 1920 px. The first visual item becomes the collection cover, so put the strongest image first.
Posts, video and audio
For photos, 1600 px on the long edge is usually enough. For regular video, 1920 × 1080 px is the practical default; vertical phone video is 1080 × 1920 px. Use MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio for the widest compatibility.
Audio at 128–192 kbps is fine for speech and music previews.
Formats and file size
Keep most images under 1.5 MB and banners under 2 MB. Compress video before uploading, especially long clips. Export in sRGB so colours stay close to what you see.
Safe areas and mobile
Leave about 10% clear space around the edges of important images. On phones, decks use a narrower column and banners crop more aggressively. Keep faces, logos and words inside the central safe area.
If an image contains text, export it large enough to read when shown at roughly one-third of its upload width.
A simple workflow
- Pick the largest display size from the cards above.
- Keep the subject centred and leave edge space.
- Resize and compress before uploading.
- Check the result on desktop and on a phone.
- If it looks crowded, crop tighter instead of uploading a larger file.
